Career background and awards:

Fedir F. Sizov joined the Institute of Semiconductor Physics in 1970 as a postgraduate. He received the Ph.D. and Dr.Sc. degrees in 1975 and 1985, respectively, from the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. He is a Professor since 1988.

He has been department head and division head since 1992 and 1997, respectively.

He has supervised 24 Ph.D. students at the Institute of Semiconductor Physics of the Ukranian National Academy of Sciences. Also he has consulted 3 Dr.Sc.

He is a Ukrainian State Prize Winner (1986); Laureate of "Golden Fortune" Award (2006, #437); Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (2013, PZ # 004096).

Publications, books, patents:

F. F. Sizov has authored about 250 papers in refereed Journals, given more than 30 invited talks, written 6 books, and holds of 15 USSR Certificates of Authorship (Patents) and of 18 Ukrainian Patents.

Areas of interest:

F. Sizov areas of interest include the physics of semiconductors, low-dimensional semiconductor systems, IR physics and microelectronics, THz detectors.

Scientific community activities:

F.F. Sizov is a member of Editorial Boards of 2 Intern. Research Journals:

  • J. Infrared and Millimeter Waves (China);
  • Quantum Electronics and Optoelectronics (Ukraine)

He was Co-Chair and Member of the Program Committees of more than 30 International Conferences.

Also he is a SPIE officer (USA, Membership # 312614), member of EuMA (European Microwave Association, Membership #AM 992), member of SPIE/Ukrainian Chapter Governing Board and a member of the Ukrainian Physical Society.
